Silverstone’s Super Sunday Not To Be Missed!
5 June, 2014
This summer's Silverstone Classic promises to be louder and more highly-charged than ever.
The closing day, in particular, already being dubbed 'Super Sunday', will be jam-packed with a mixture of races, parades, air displays delivered in a way that only Silverstone can.
The classic event will of course take place at the famous Northamptonshire venue over the weekend of 25-27 July.
The regular big crowds will only be bolstered this time around due to the sheer number of hot attractions mounting up.
Racing legend Sir Stirling Moss, for instance, will lead a world record parade of grand prix cars on Sunday to honour Silverstone's milestone 50th grand prix, which takes place just a few weeks before the Classic.
Moss will also spearhead a pageant of fabled Maserati models on the day to celebrate the revered Italian marque's centenary.
Both road and racing creations from the iconic automaker will feature, including a pair of priceless 250F grand prix winners from the 1950s, as the colourful cavalcade makes its way around the track.
In terms of racing, there will be as many as 11 exciting showdowns on Super Sunday for spectators to absorb.
The Royal Automobile Club Woodcote Trophy for Pre '56 Sports.
Cars and the Royal Automobile Club Tourist Trophy for Historic Cars are just a couple of the races to keep an eye out for. Both of the tour de force grids are unique to Sunday and will each feature more than 50 machines steeped in racing tradition.
Elsewhere, Aston Martins, Allards, Austin-Healeys plus plenty of seriously competitive Jaguar C- and D-types will battle it out for the Woodcote Trophy, while SWB Ferraris, DB4 and DB5 Aston Martins, Lotus Elites and early spec Jaguar E-types will be among the models competing for the prestigious Tourist Trophy.
There will, as always, be a vast collection of car clubs showcasing some of the finest automobiles to ever grace the world's roads, giving you the perfect opportunity to get up close and personal with them.
Various stalls at the event will also give you the chance to discuss classic car insurance to give your pride and joy the best possible protection.
