Footman James Takes flight with Sywell Classic - Pistons and Props

Classic insurance specialists Footman James is set to take flight as the headline sponsor of the inaugural Sywell Classic – Pistons and Props motoring festival, held at Northamptonshire’s Sywell Aerodrome on Sat 28th and Sun 29th September 2013.

Sywell Classic – Pistons and Props will be a celebration of classics, both on the ground and in the air, combining classic cars, motorbikes and planes with all aspects of vintage lifestyle and entertainment.

“As a specialist broker with a love of all things classic we are delighted to support this brand new classic motoring festival as it opens its doors to the public for the very first time in 2013. It is a unique event that will unite classic fans of all genres, from two wheels to four as well as appealing to classic plane lovers too.

“In addition to the excitement that will ensue in the fast and furious race areas, classic fans can enjoy the Vintage Village, which, as a personal favourite of mine, will allow visitors a nostalgic trip back in time as they browse through the retro, auto and area jumble areas – a great place to source that illusive classic part!

“We have now been providing specialist insurance to the classic market for 30 years and look forward to celebrating this achievement at the Sywell Classic, where visitors can come along and find out more about our wide range of insurance products,” said Andy Fairchild, managing director, Footman James.

As well as static displays from some of the UK’s leading classic motoring clubs, there will be high octane live action with single seaters, sports cars and saloons battling it out on the ‘Racing Runway’ while on the ‘Sprint Strip’ Dragsters and motorcycles go head to head on the 200-metre straight-line sprint.

Chipmunks, Be2s, Tiger Moths and Tomahawks are just a few of the iconic planes that will take to the skies as individual owners and clubs fly into the show. Plus there will be breathtaking aerial displays from Hangar 11’s Spitfires, the Trig Aerobatic Team’s fast and furious Pitts Special S-1D biplanes and the Breitling Wingwalkers, the World's only aerobatic formation wing walking team.

Back on the ground, and a vintage funfair, the Wall of Death, and sideshows will keep families entertained. Music will be provided by all girl harmony group Elle and the Pocket Belles and rockabilly band The Hound Dogs, with more musical acts to be added to the line up.

Visitors can make a weekend of it by taking advantage of the excellent camping facilities as well as enjoying live evening entertainment on Saturday night in Hangar One with a swingin’ 60s party featuring music from Sounds Force 5 and the Swinging Blue Jeans.
