A scooter from iconic film Quadrophenia took centre stage at last weekend’s Classic Bike Show at the NEC, Birmingham.
The scooter, an LI150 dating back to 1963, was showcased on the Footman James stand and was an instant attraction for motorcycle and scooter lovers.
The bike – which is owned by Dave and Jo Porter from Nottingham – was bought earlier this year. Scooter and memorabilia fans for a long time, Dave and Jo heard about a garage find through the Lambretta Club GB. It was an instant love affair as Dave and Jo already own several well known models including a PX200 and a GS160.
The LI150 was the second manufactured for the film and was the one used in the famous scene in the film where the scooter is involved in a crash with a post van. Subsequently repaired and now in fine form, the ‘Jimmy’ scooter is valued at around £36,000.
Dave said, “We are mad fans and this is a life long lover affair we share.”

In 1964 London, Jimmy Cooper (Phil Daniels) divides his time between hanging out with Mod friends and slaving in the post-room of an advertising firm. He doesn't work because he wants to or through a desire to further a career. All Jimmy wants is to have enough cash in his pocket to keep his scooter running and his bespoke suits trim. There's nothing that Jimmy likes more than motoring with his pals.
