Footman James Classic Vehicle Restoration Show 2018

Date: 3rd - 4th November

Time: 9.30am – 4pm

Location: The Bath & West Showground, Shepton Mallet, Somerset, BA4 6QN

What to Expect

From dusty barn finds to pristine Concours condition vehicles, this show champions everything to do with restoration.

Marketplace

Traders, jumblers and classic vehicle specialists will be in abundance at the show. There will be something for everyone - whether you need to source a company to complete an ambitious restoration project or are simply after some tricks of the trade to take back to your garage at home.

The Footman James Stand

As always, we will be there to answer any and all of your questions about classic vehicle insurance. You'll also be able to take a look at a superb example of a 1961 Standard Vanguard Luxury Six on our stand.

Parked up Vanguard 600

The Standard Vanguard Luxury Six replaced the 1960 Vignali and was fitted with a six-cylinder engine and twin carburettors. These improved changes would also act as the power plant for the new Triumph line of TR Sports Models and Saloons. The introduction of the new 1998cc engine allowed the vehicle 80bhp, meaning the Luxury Six could achieve speeds of up to 90mph. This was a great improvement on the older four-cylinder engine.

This example, 759 NOU, was built on 20th January 1961 and is believed to be one of the only surviving examples of the Vanguard Luxury Six that was produced with automatic transmission. It has a Borg-Werner 35 automatic gearbox that was factory fitted and later reconditioned in 2012.

759 NOU has won awards, including “Best Vanguard” at the Standard Motor Club’s 2011 rally, and in 2012 won “Best Original Post-War Standard”.

Car Clubs

The UK’s leading car clubs will also be at the event, bringing with them a variety of restored vehicles and ongoing projects. You may even get a chance to see some live restoration and maintenance work taking place on the stands!

Classic Car Park

The classic car park is one of the highlights of the show as an enormous display of visitors’ prized possessions come together. All vehicles entered at the show will be eligible to win an award, trophy or rosette in a number of categories.

Auction

A traditional auction from Charterhouse finishes the event on Sunday. You can view the lots for free on Saturday, but on Sunday you will need a catalogue to gain entry to the auction.
