1940’s Relived 2017

Date: 13 May, 2017

Location: Brooklands Museum, Brooklands Road, Weybridge, Surrey, KT13 0QN

The Home Guard on parade. Dancers jiving the night away. Classic cars as far as the eye can see. It can all only mean one thing… the 1940’s Relived at Brooklands Museum is back!

On 13 May 2017, the Brooklands Museum in Surrey will be going back in time to host a celebration of all things ‘40’s. Here’s a taste of what to expect.

A look back at the military

From the Home Guard to US airborne troops, you’ll get a taste of the military from days gone by around every corner.

This year, keep an eye out for an RAF Fighter Command Control Centre and the Home Guard in the Pill Box. Also, prepare for a fantastic demonstration from US airborne troops showing off their firepower. It sounds like something that will be hard to miss.

Forget the driving gloves, pack the dancing shoes

The Dance Marquee is the place to be for live music, food and drink and, of course, a bit of dancing. Whether you just fancy a Jive, want to boogie like a jitterbug or are on the lookout for a Lindy Hop partner, you’re covered in the marquee.

Keep an eye and an ear open, and you’ll probably find it behind the Motoring Sheds.

Help build the Bellman

The 1940’s is famed for its Family Activity Zones. OK, maybe not… but 1940’s Relived sure is. Make sure you head to the Family Activity Zone and help build a papercraft model of a WW2 Bellman Aircraft Hanger.

Tickets are cheaper in advance, at £11 for adults, £10 for seniors and students, £30 for families and £6 for children (aged 5-16). Prices will be a little more expensive on the day (unless you’re a BTM or LBPT member, where it’s £2 either way), so make sure you book in advance.
