10 Reasons to Attend the Classic Motor Show

More than 2,500 cars will be at this year’s event

Before the vintage cars and retro bikes are tucked away for winter, this may be your last chance to celebrate 2017's classic motoring season.

Here are 10 reasons to head to Birmingham’s NEC for this year’s Classic Motor Show.

1.    The UK's Biggest Classic Motor Show

This year’s three-day vintage extravaganza will play host to more than 2,500 classics, covering more than one million square feet – to put this into context, that’s around 12 football pitches.

2.    Pride of Ownership Competition

There are 20 privately-owned, rare and unique classic marques that will battle it out for the Best in Show title. Visitors will be asked to vote for which motor they feel deserves “Best of the Best”, and the overall winner will be crowned on the last day of the show, Sunday November 12.

 3.    Car Clubs

Around 250 classic car and motorcycle clubs will be displaying some of the rarest and most special motors around, from every decade since motorised vehicles began.

The clubs are a great chance to chat with like-minded lovers of all things classic, and tap into specialised knowledge about the marques you’re interested in.

 4.    The Discovery Live Stage

Motoring specialists-come-TV-presenters Mike Brewer and Ant Anstead – of the Discovery Channel’s Wheeler Dealers – will be hosting a live Q&A, giving away tips and insider knowledge.

Over the three-day event, the Practical Classics team will also be undertaking a live restoration project to recreate Mr Bean's iconic Mini.

 5.    Autojumble & Trader Village

From spare parts to hand painted artwork of historic marques, the UK’s largest autojumble has stands to suit every type of classic car enthusiast.

Meanwhile, Restoration Theatre will be showcasing daily tips and tricks of the trade for owners looking to keep their motors in peak condition.

 6.    Silverstone Auctions

Over 100 lots of classic cars, modern sports cars, historic motorbikes and automobilia will go under the hammer at the record breaking two-day auction.

More than 2,500 cars will be at November's CMS

 7.    Arrive & Drive a Classic Car Experience, operated by HERO Events

Jump into a Jaguar E-Type or speed off in a Lancia Delta Integrale and take on a specially-designed route around the NEC's halls as part of a high-octane Classic Car Experience.

 8.    Sporting Bears Dream Rides

Enjoy a ride in the classic car of your dreams while raising money for a children’s charity. Dream Rides, by the Sporting Bears Motor Club has 70 to 100 cars waiting to take to Birmingham’s open roads, all for a charitable donation. It’s win-win.

 9.    The Meguiar's Club Showcase

Celebrating the best of Britain’s car club scene, the Meguiar's Club Showcase will feature an incredible line-up of award-winning cars from this year’s motoring events, before unveiling the “Best in Show” on Sunday.
