Heat 6 of the Footman James Classic American Car of the Year is revealed

On July 27-29th the 25th Mopar Euro Nationals rocked Santa Pod Raceway across the weekend.

An event solely focused on American Muscle cars saw some tyre squealing action from drag racers, as well as the Show & Shine and Burnout Competition. However, the only competition we had our eyes on was the 6th heat of the Footman James Classic American Car of the Year 2018.

Amongst the MSA Pro Mods, UK and American Superstock, there was one classic American car that stood out to judges… the black-on-black 1969 COPO Camaro, which lifted the trophy for heat 6 and secured its place in the final at the NEC Classic Motor Show this November.

Steve Henry from Berkshire, is the lucky owner of this classic after he purchased the rare, high performing Camaro from Belgium. The car has a L72, 425 bhp and 427 cu, with its V8 motor being backed up by a Muncie four-speed close ratio transmission and 140 mph speedo.

Six years ago, the classic car underwent a complete restoration Stateside, prior to its importation to Europe; but now, sits comfortably in the care of Steve Henry at its new home in England.

To see all the finalists and to cast your vote, make sure you head to the NEC Classic Motor Show, where all this year’s heat winners will be on a proud display over on the Classic American Stand.

Keep your eyes open for heat 7 winner this October as one fortunate classic car will be crowned the next winner at this year’s Prescott American Autumn Classic event.

If you can’t wait until then, why not check out the competitions current heat winners below?
