It's the second day of our 12 Days of Christmas competition! Today you have a chance to attend the Shelsley Walsh Driving School!

The Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb Driving School provides the highest level of instruction on the world’s oldest racetrack, in a controlled and safe environment so everyone has an enjoyable and exciting day.

Whatever your level of driving skills are, the Shelsley Walsh Driving School will give you a great day out. Their instructors are all highly experienced competitors and know how to enjoy their sport. Let them pass some of that enjoyment on to you.

They will talk you through starting in competition before a briefing on driving the Hill. Then they will take you on to the track. You won’t be confined to the classroom for long, they devote most of the time to driving and instructing.

The day’s programme will be as follows, the timings of which are approximate:

  • 08:00 – 08.50 Arrive at Shelsley Walsh, Sign-on at the Paddock Office and have breakfast
  • 09:00 Proceedings start with introductions, presentation and briefings in the Meeting Room
  • 09:40 Walk the course with Instructors
  • 10:30 Four observed individual runs with marker poles and debrief after each pair of runs
  • 13:00 Lunch in the Shelsley Walsh Restaurant
  • 13:45 Re-commence for four more individual runs without marker poles
  • 16:30 Tea and cake in the Stratstone Restaurant followed by presentation of certificates
  • 17:00 Depart from Shelsley Walsh

All you need to do is bring your own road legal car and wear clothing that covers your arms and legs. Do use overalls and gloves if you have them, but they are not compulsory for the driving school.

Crash helmets are required but will be provided free of charge to those who do not have their own. If you choose to bring your own helmet, it must be to the current Motorsport UK specifications.

This prize includes full driving tuition, breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and refreshments throughout the day.

Day 2 Terms & Conditions

  1. The prize draw is open to all UK residents aged 18 years or over, except employees of The Ardonagh Group Limited or any of its group undertakings from time to time, their families, agents or any third party directly associated with administration of the prize draw.
  2. The promoter of the prize draw is Footman James (the “Promoter”).
  3. The prize draw is free to enter, and no purchase is necessary.
  4. All entries must be submitted via the online entry form on the Footman James website. Only one entry per person is permitted
  5. The opening date for entries is 10:00am on 14/12/19. The closing date of the prize draw is 8:00am on 15/12/19. Entries received after this time will not be considered.
  6. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for entries not successfully completed due to a technical fault, technical malfunction, computer hardware or software failure, satellite, network or server failure of any kind.
  7. A winner, with the correct answer, will be chosen by random draw on 16/12/19 ("Draw Date").
  8. The winner will receive one day pass to the Shelsley Walsh Driving School. The winner must be a minimum of 16 years of age to participate. If under 18, the winner must have parental permission to take part in the form of a signed contract provided by Shelsley Walsh.
  9. The car you choose to participate in must be in a road legal condition. Please ensure that all loose items are removed from your car. Ensure you have enough fuel before arrival; about 15 litres should be enough, depending on the car.
  10. Once the winner has chosen one of the available dates to attend, the winner can change the date up to 10 days before the event takes place. No transfers are available within 10 days of the event date. Organisers reserve the right to cancel the meeting if minimum numbers are not achieved and will transfer the place to an alternative date. Please note that general car insurance will not cover use on track. If you require cover for your vehicle whilst attending the driving school you will need to arrange "on track" insurance through a specialist motorsport insurer.
  11. If you are the winner, The Midland Automobile Club (Est.1901) Ltd (MAC) will hold by electronic means personal contact details for the administration and promotion of their driving school activities and agree to your own details being recorded in this way for administration and promotion purposes. You understand and give consent, that your personal contact details may be shared with the appointed photographer covering the driving school so that they can alert you to photographs of your participation in this event should you wish to purchase images. These images may be used by the MAC to promote the driving school or MAC activities.
  12. The winner will be notified by email (using details provided at entry) on the day of the draw and must provide Footman James further details to claim their prize. If a winner does not respond to the Promoter within 48 hours of being notified by the Promoter, then the winner's prize will be forfeited, and the Promoter will be entitled to select another winner in accordance with the process described above.
  13. The prize for the winner is non-exchangeable, non-transferable and no cash alternative is offered.
  14. The Promoter reserves the right to replace the prize with an alternative prize of equal or higher value if circumstances beyond the Promoter's control makes it necessary to do so.
  15. The decision of the Promoter regarding any aspect of the prize draw is final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into about it.
  16. Participants are deemed to have accepted and agreed to be bound by these terms and conditions upon entry. The Promoter reserves the right to refuse entry or refuse to award the prize to anyone in breach of these terms and conditions.
  17. The Promoter reserves the right to hold void, cancel, suspend, or amend the promotion where it becomes necessary to do so.
  18. Insofar as is permitted by law, the Promoter, its agents or distributors will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate the winner or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of taking up the prize except where it is caused by the negligence of the Promoter, its agents or distributors or that of their employees. Your statutory rights are not affected.
  19. Personal data supplied during the course of this promotion will only be processed as set out in the Promoter's privacy policy, which can be found at the Promoter’s website.
  20. The prize draw will be governed by English law and entrants to the prize draw submit to the jurisdiction of the English courts.
