The VSCDA Elkhart Lake Vintage Festival takes place at Wisconsin’s Road America circuit during the awesome Ariens Art on Wheels Weekend.
With 250 vintage cars making the trip the first-class racetrack, there’s a lot to look forward to. Here’s a taste of what to expect…
Two major features
At this year’s event, visitors will get to enjoy two major features; Porsche as a feature marque and Formula Junior’s Diamond Jubilee.
The Formula Junior Feature Race takes place on the Saturday, alongside qualifying and sprint races. On Sunday, Porsche fans need to grab a seat for the special Porsche Feature Race.
‘The Cup Races’
Also taking place on the Sunday are some extra-special ‘Cup Races’. Based on the original road races held at Elkhart Lake back in 1950-52, the ‘Cup Races’ will see some of the closest racing across the weekend.
Each car’s position on the grid has nothing to do with its model, marque or class. The only thing that affects your position is your time. This means cars that never get the chance to race alongside each other may get a chance… if they are fast enough. This isn’t to be missed.
Recreate history
Elkhart Lake has a rich motorsport history, and the weekend gives drivers the opportunity to enjoy a taste of days gone by. On Saturday, head to the Road Course Re-enactment; a tour of the original road race route from the furious Fifties.
Up to 100 cars are expected to hit the original road course and take part in the re-enactment, so whether you’re taking part or just watching, it’s bound to be a treat.
Tickets and further information
Day tickets range from just $10-20, with a weekend ticket costing $40 online. Visit the Road America website to get your tickets online.
