Over 5,000 car connoisseurs are expected to descend on the picturesque Somerset town of Shepton Mallet this autumn for the Footman James Classic Vehicle Restoration Show.
The 15th edition of this popular West Country event promises all the spectacular fixtures that regulars have come to expect – with a few new surprises thrown in too.
With well over four months to go to the big weekend, many details are still to be revealed, but classic car owners with a thirst for restoration projects are already licking their lips at the prospect.

Top of the bill for many about to get stuck into a car overhaul project are the professional restorers. These experts will call the Shepton Mallet showground home over the two-day show. Live displays and workshops will provide attendees with top specialist restoration tips.
The popularity of the Charterhouse Auction shows no sign of fading. This regular Sunday event from the Dorset-based sales house promises motors which should fit every liking – and budget.
If last year’s event is anything to go by, there will be well over 150 exhibitors dispersed throughout the venue’s quartet of indoor arenas, showcasing a vast array of stunning machines.

Classic car organisations will not only feature vintage machines, but encourage visitors of the myriad benefits of joining their ranks. These include advice, camaraderie and discounted items, such as classic car insurance.

Last year’s star
The man behind Austin-Healey sports motors probably helped to turn the most heads at the 2014 event – thanks to a lovingly restored sports boat.
Healey’s Marine “55” sports boat (1956) brought unbeatable design and elegance to the show.
Only nine other such models are believed to exist. Its inventor was Donald Healey, who also had a passion for water skiing.
Its arrival made the Footman James classic restoration event the first to include a boat.
How do I get a ticket?
Adult day tickets cost £10 on the gate. But you can get them for £8 in advance online or £16 for a weekend pass.
In both cases children go free and there is also free parking.
