Any classic car buff who thinks nostalgia isn’t what it used to be should try out this autumn’s Footman James Manchester Classic Car Show.
Whether it’s US muscle cars, Euro-thoroughbreds, GB saloons, sports cars or incredible supercars, there is something to arrest the imagination of anyone who has ever enthused over classic cars.
Our top picks
- Live Rally action
EventCity’s car parks will play host to Group B machines which in their 1980s heyday were a match for contemporary F1 cars on gravel.
- CödeClean Concours
Car lovers will take a shine to this section, where gleaming models will pay testament to the polishing prowess of CödeClean, supplier of revolutionary car care goods. The company is inviting owners to display their motors.
- Restoration workshop
A must for beginners, and veterans alike, in pursuit of keeping their treasured machine roadworthy and presentable. The secrets of electrics, welding, trimming and panel forming are among the techniques that Leeds City College’s experts are sharing with visitors.
Best of the rest
- Classic car clubs
A record number of clubs are expected at this year’s show. These organisations are the bedrocks of the classic motor scene - offering knowledge, special offers, get-togethers and a vibrant social scene.
- Trade stands
Does the missing link to your barn-find restoration project rest here? We hope so. Even if it doesn’t, you’ll probably find someone who can point you in the right direction. Whether it’s garage equipment, autojumble, car-care items, tools or literature you need, it’s probably among these stalls. Oh, and Footman James will also be there to help you with expert classic car insurance advice.
- Show Your Car
Own a car that was built before 1995? Why not show it off here? You don’t have to be part of a car club to enter.
