Often referred to as the biggest motoring garden party in the world, the Goodwood Festival of Speed returns to West Sussex on the 12th – 15th July. This year’s edition will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the event - The Silver Jubilee.
The very first Festival of Speed was held in 1993 and since the inaugural event, FoS has been established as one of the most significant events in the British motoring calendar.
To celebrate the Silver Jubilee the Duke of Richmond (formerly Lord March), will select 25 of his personal favourite and significant moments from the initial 25 years to revere.
The Duke of Richmond’s selection of nostalgic moments from FoS’s inception are sure to make you reflect on the evolution of the event, from its humble beginnings in 1993 to its growth into a global celebration of car culture.
Yet, the Festival of Speed will stay true to its roots by celebrating more than 100 years of motorsport and showcasing iconic vehicles on both two wheels and four as well as the drivers who have commandeered them.
The Festival of Speed opens on Thursday 12th July and promises to be ‘bigger and better’ than previous years. You will be able to peek at the latest road cars zooming on the Hill as well seeing all the new racing content before the crowd’s surge. Whether you find yourself enthralled by off-road action or jaw-dropping stunts, you will be able to experience it all at the Forest Rally Stage or the Action Sports Arena.
By Friday, the event has well and truly got underway. It is the first day that some of the most prized and prestigious vehicles from Formula 1 and the Supercar Paddocks will be able to take to the Hillclimb and compete against each other for the best time and motoring glory.
If it’s motorbikes that keep you entertained, it’s best to head to GAS (Goodwood Action Sports) to peer at the finest stunts you will see on two wheels. If you’re interested in Motocross, BMX, Mountain Bikes or Trials this is the area for you!
Saturday is often one of the most popular days of the event, you can often find stars and heroes of motorsport making an appearance, greeting fans or simply watching all the action unfurl. There will be more exhilarating runs up the Hillclimb as well as displays from the event partners on their respective stands.
It’s important to note, that Saturday often sells out earlier than the rest of the weekend.
The event reaches its climax on Sunday with the sensational timed Hillclimb Shootout taking place. As one of the most popular elements of Festival of Speed, Sunday also proves to be one of the most favoured days to attend. It will be your last opportunity to not only view the Hillclimb action, meet the heroes of motorsport or enjoy the agility and endurance of the vehicles at either the Off-Road Arena, Goodwood Action Sports Arena or Forest Rally stage.
There are many different packages available for those interested in attending – you can buy tickets for the entirety of the weekend or for each individual day.
You can purchase your tickets in advance online on the Goodwood website.
