Kop Hill Climb 2019

Date: 21st – 22nd September 2019

Time: 9:00am – 6:00pm

Location: Kop Hill Road, Princes Risborough, Bucks HP27 0LA

This year is the 10th anniversary of the Kop Hill Climb, so some special events and appearances have been arranged by event organisers, including TV presenter Fuzz Townshend joining visitors for the weekend – Fuzz will be bringing some cars for both display and to run The Hill, but will also be on hand to assist the younger generation of motoring fans in the Soapbox Challenge.

Kop Hill is all about the excitement of racing – whether you are into your classic cars or bikes, both will be put to the test at this event. But fabulous marques aren’t the only thing to be enjoyed over the weekend, with other attractions such as live music, shopping, food and family fun in the form of fair rides to enjoy.

Kop Hill Climb was created by a group of biking enthusiasts who wanted somewhere to gather and really test their machines – and over 100 years later, not much has changed! 200 bikers will descend to the event to showcase just what two wheels can do.

The Kop Hill Climb’s inaugural event was in 1910 but has continued to strive to be one of the most inclusive racing events of its kind. Entrants are divided into three categories:

  • Veteran & Vintage – 1900 – 1930s
  • Post-War Era – up to 1979
  • Modern Cars – present day, rare and significant machines

Over 800 cars and bikes are registered to attend, to either race or display, so you are sure to find one or two vehicles which should strike your fancy.

The Soapbox Challenge returns for 2019! The Challenge is dedicated to the ‘driving force’ behind the Kop Hill Climb – Andy Beaumont. Each year entrants compete for the ‘furthest distance travelled’ and those successful are presented with the ‘Beaumont Cup’. Other awards up for grabs are:

  • Fastest Soapbox
  • Best Soapbox
  • Spirit of the Event

As mentioned previously, Fuzz Townshend will be in the Soapbox Garage to help keep the hand-built karts in prim condition, he commented: “The thing I am really looking forward to though is getting stuck in with the fantastic crew from Hill Climb Garage helping the young engineers who have built these amazing Soapbox karts – some of the work that has gone into them is nothing short of incredible. These youngsters are the future of the automotive industry and I am looking forward to helping them keep their karts racing over the weekend. Who knows – I may even learn a thing or two from them!”
