Date: 30.08.18 – 01.09.18
Location: Blenheim Palace, Woodstock, OX20 1PP
One of the most luxurious automotive events in the world, Salon Privé has been long established as a sensational fixture in the motoring calendar. With a heavy focus on uniting the most esteemed and illustrious cars in the world, against the remarkable background of Blenheim Palace, the event is a sight to behold.
Though there will be an abundance of diverse cars on display, there is also the opportunity to get behind the wheel of some of the most elite super and hyper cars in the world.
Now in its 13th year as one of the most premier events of the calendar, it’s important to remember that the dress code is strictly smart. There are not only automotive gems to admire, as the event is heavily catered to quintessential extravagance – there is a Luxury Retail Village to explore as well as indulgent food to take advantage of, including a Champagne Reception, Lobster Luncheon and English Afternoon Tea.
CHUBB INSURANCE CONCOURS D'ELÉGANCE
On the inaugural day of the event, Thursday 30th August, the distinguished Chubb Insurance Concours D'elégance is the highlight of the day. A reverent fixture, the Concours is held in the same high regard as other global automotive events including those at Pebble Beach, Amelia Island and Villa d’Este.
Some of the most historically significant classic bikes and classic cars will form and compete against each other in the coveted Concours competition. The Concours itself will be assessed by a panel of expert judges, led by British racing driver Derek Bell MBE.
You can view a full list of Judges on the Salon Privé website.
Last year’s ‘Best of Show’ award went to a significantly special Alfa Romeo – the 1960 6C 3000 CM Pininfarina Superflow IV. The rare car was showcased previously at Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este.
There are several classes for 2018, including:
• CLASS A: Exceptional Motorbikes 1900-1939
• CLASS B: Exceptional Motorbikes 1940-1978
• CLASS C: Exceptional Competition Motorbikes
• CLASS DI: Preservation Class: Pre-1930
• CLASS DII: Preservation Class: 1930-1960
• CLASS E: Pre-war Luxury Tourers
• CLASS F: 50 Years of the Dino

• CLASS K: Competition Cars to 1965
LADIES’ DAY
Friday 31st August is all about Ladies’ Day – you can expect to see an array of distinctive hats and fascinators flooding the grounds of the Palace. Despite the formal dress attire, the day itself is far more relaxed and promises to be ‘a uniquely tranquil experience’. The lawn grounds will be filled with a mix of classic, super and hyper cars providing a stylish backdrop for the day. So, you can enjoy not only the rarest cars and champagne, but jewellery from Boodles too – all to the soundtrack of soft jazz.
CONCOURS MASTERS CELEBRATION: 70 YEARS OF PORSCHE
Concours Masters was introduced in 2017 as a re-occurring theme for the third day at Salon Privé. Different to the Chubb Insurance Concours D'elégance, Concours Masters has more emphasis on the celebration of the vehicles rather than the competitive edge you will find on the first day at Salon Privé.
Despite the more relaxed approach, the day will still be as equally wonderful as the first. Concours Masters is centred around a specific marque and this year the celebrations will be focused on ’70 years of Porsche’. With a display showcasing some of the most exemplary examples of the vehicle, visitors will be in awe at some of the finest Porsches in the world.
Last year, a 1956 Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta TdF won the Owner’s Choice Winner, a Ferrari 250 Inter Europa Coupe won the Owner’s Choice Runner-Up award and a 1964 500 Superfast was the People’s Choice Winner.
