Coventry MotoFest 2016

Date: 04 June, 2016

Location: Trinity St, Coventry, CV1 1FE

It wouldn’t be unfair to call Coventry “the Detroit of the UK” when it comes to car manufacturing.

After all, a few places in Britain are as synonymous with the motor industry as this Midlands city.

So how better to celebrate Coventry’s amazing motor heritage than with its own festival?

The third Coventry MotoFest arrives this summer (June 4-5) for a weekend jam-packed with classic cars and automotive fun to the fore… and it’s free.

Last year’s show saw more than 100,000 visitors flock to the city centre to enjoy an awesome array of jaw-dropping Jags old and new.

Static classics and a classic vehicle run
Organisers have reserved 300 places for vehicles aged 20 years or older. They say they are not expecting concours-standard fare. But they would be delighted to welcome exhibitors with anything from side-piped Corvettes to slammed Austin Princesses; from mirror-covered Vespas to Police Rover SD1s from the 1970s.

Clubs, motorbikers and drivers are all invited to bring their vehicles along. April 16 sees the start of pre-registration and entry closes on May 15.

This year brings the inaugural Road to Coventry classic vehicle run. This is a special touring assembly for pre-1992 cars on the Saturday in which participants will converge just outside Coventry city centre from all points of the compass.

They can then travel in cavalcade along the city’s Ring Road route, which is being closed on the day. Participants will be treated to Formula One Stockcar Championship action at Coventry Stadium in the evening. The cost is £160 for a two-strong crew.

This entitles them to a range of privileges, including lunch and evening meal, road book, guaranteed parking area and souvenir numbered plates.

Don’t leave without …
• Catching the bikes: Organisers are placing a greater emphasis on two-wheeled delights this year following a tie-up with Donington Park racing circuit. They would love to welcome bikers with machines built before 1996
• Checking out the eclectic range of vehicles: You want trucks, buses, taxis, stock cars, even bicycles? MotoFest has it all for you
• Hearing the live music: Local bands will be strutting their stuff across the weekend
