The Great Western Classic Car Show 2020

Date: 8-9 February 2019

Time: 9.30am-4pm

Location: Bath & West Showground, Shepton Mallet, Somerset, BA4 6QN

WHAT TO EXPECT

The Great Western Classic Car Show is one of the first events to kick start the motoring calendar for the year. The biggest of its kind in the South West, the show attracts thousands of classic vehicle enthusiasts on their restoration journey.

THE FOOTMAN JAMES STAND

1938 Alvis, restored and at the scrapyard

On the Footman James stand this year we have a stunning 1938 Alvis 12/70 Anderson Tourer, kindly loaned to us by one of our clients. This Alvis is particularly special as it is one of only four that were ever made with its specific body type, and now only three are still in existence.

The car has been a familiar sight in Dorset for the past 80 years, having been owned by a Sherborne-based solicitor in the 1950s before being driven speedily through the town by Sherborne school boys! In the late 1960s, the car was rescued from a scrapyard by Peter Smith of Smith & Cave, motor body repair specialists from Blandford. Over the proceeding 20 years the car was gradually restored, being finally completed in 1990.

CHARTERHOUSE AUCTIONS

Charterhouse Auctions will once again be at the show. Viewing is free on Saturday and the auction promises to showcase a wide variety of models, from those needing plenty of TLC to pristine examples.

CLASSIC CAR PARK & CAR CLUBS

The Classic Car Park is also a chance to add a vehicle to your garage via a private sale. Plus, if you attend the show in a classic car you'll get half price entry (drivers only) - simply turn up and pay on the day. Please note, this offer only applies to cars 25 years or older.

Car clubs are at the very heart of the industry and at the Great Western Classic Car Show they will be out in force. Clubs from around the UK put on brilliant displays and they always put a special effort in to impress the crowds as they offer a chance to get up close and personal with their cars. Plus, they are an incredibly vital source of information and are more than happy to have a chat to passersby about the marque they represent.

The Automotive Garage Clear-Out

A classic car show wouldn't be complete without an autojumble! On Sunday at the Great Western Classic Car Show, any visitor can take up a one-day trading plot to sell the contents of their garage that are surplus to requirements in the form of an old fashioned car boot sale. The plots are allocated on arrival at 8am.
