Date: 02 July, 2016
From the Herald to the Spitfire, Triumph produced some iconic cars in its heyday.
To celebrate the classic brand in all its glory, Triumph Sports Six Club (TSSC) is gearing up for the most important weekend on its events calendar.
This year’s TriumFest is being held at Santa Pod Raceway on the weekend of July 2-3, alongside the all-classic Retro Show.
Unlike many motor shows where you park up in a field and bring a picnic, this is an action-packed day where you can take part in the racing and parade your vintage motor.
Anniversary celebrations and monster fun
This year marks 50 years since the launch of the stylish Triumph GT6, the six-cylinder sports coupe based on the popular Spitfire convertible.
On Saturday a procession of Triumphs will parade up the famous Santa Pod strip, and there will be displays to mark the GT6’s anniversary.
Sunday is the Santa Pod Retro Show. It’s open for all classics from the 1950s to 1990s.
Other attractions include a rocket car and monster truck displays, and there will be a dedicated Triumph display area, BMX displays, trade stands and fairground rides.
Don’t leave without…
• Watching the hi-octane action: See a Jet Dragster thunder down the strip, as well as demo runs from eight Wild Bunch cars, mainly made up of front-engined slingshot dragsters and altereds
• Running ‘What Ya Brung’: Put your motor to the test down the strip. It’s £25 for as many runs as you want, with trophies for the quickest in class
• Trying something new: Ready for some extreme sideways fun? Drift triking is new to the UK. It’s a cross between go-karting and triking, with 50cc motors and speeds of up to 30mph
• Listening to the live bands: Blues trio The Roadrunnerz will be rocking the stage on Saturday, while on Sunday Jinx Brothers perform classic hits from the 1960s and 70s
