Classic Motor Show 2018
Location: NEC Birmingham, B40 1NT,
Time: Friday 10am-6.30pm, Saturday 9am – 6.30pm, Sunday 9am – 5.30pm
WHAT TO EXPECT
The Classic Motor Show is one of the largest classic events of the year, with the show spanning over 1 million square feet and displaying over 2,500 classic vehicles. Here you’ll find dealers and clubs representing almost every marque and model imaginable plus the UK’s largest indoor autojumble. Expect to see examples of the very earliest cars right through to modern classics from the (almost) present day.
Classic car and bike clubs are the heartbeat of the classic industry, with around 300 of them exhibiting at the show this year. With them, they’ll be bringing some fantastic examples of the motors they love plus their invaluable knowledge and expertise. Visiting the club area is a fantastic way of meeting like-minded enthusiasts and having a chat over the minutia of your beloved classic.
Cars for Sale
Whether you wish to add to your classic collection or are a first-time buyer, you’ll find a fantastic mix of cars for sale at the show. All budgets are catered for by the wide variety of dealers at the show: whether you have just a few thousand pounds or over £100,000.
Silverstone Auctions will also be at the event, auctioning off over 100 classic cars, sports cars, bikes and automobilia on the Saturday and Sunday.
Pride of Ownership
The Pride of Ownership display celebrates classic car ownership by bringing together classic enthusiasts and their cars with a story to tell. From incredibly rare cars to vehicles which have undergone mammoth restorations, you’ll be able to see the passion of the owner shine through.
Applications are still open for enthusiasts who wish to showcase their car as part of the display (you can apply here). From the hundreds of submissions, just 20 make their way to the show where visitors have a chance to vote for their favourite. The winner of the public vote is then presented with the Pride of Ownership Award on Sunday.
Meguiar’s Club Showcase
Head on over to Meguiar’s Club Showcase to see rare and pristine examples of classic vehicles on display. Sixteen award-winning cars have been chosen for the display from a range of club organised events throughout the year, and on Sunday an ultimate winner will be crowned.
The Live Stage
Wheeler Dealers’ Mike Brewer and Ant Anstead will be hosting the Live Stage at the show this year. Mike will be unveiling his latest restoration project, Ant will be discussing his bestselling book Cops and Robbers: The Story of the British Police Car, and they will both be regaling the audience with workshop tales from the show.
Several special guests will also be invited onto the stage for an interview with Mike & Ant. Past guests include Sir Stirling Moss, James May, Steve Coogan and Chris Evans!
The team from Practical Classics will also be appearing on the Live Stage as they attempt to restore a 1951 Riley RMA over the three days of the show. The car has been in storage since 1972 as a father/son project which was never realised.
The Car Restoration Theatre
Get top tips from the experts on restoring and maintaining your classic at the Restoration Theatre. The stage is hosted by Mike Coman, co-founder of Gilbert-Michaelson Limited. Mike and his team will be spending the weekend advising members of the audience and demonstrating their skills on stage in everything from bodywork to mechanical fixes.
From rare parts to specialist tools, and from paintings to badges, you’re sure you find what you’re searching for in the UK’s largest indoor autojumble. There will be over 650 trade stalls for you to enjoy - if you can tear yourself away from the cars!
Sporting Bear’s Dream Rides
The Sporting Bear’s Motor Club are back again with their Dream Rides – offering people a ten-mile passenger ride in an out-of-this-world car to raise money for charity. The size of donation depends on the spectacular car that you’ll be riding in, with donations starting from as little as £10. Marques on offer often includes Cobras, Ferraris, Maseratis and Lamborghinis.
