Europe Tops The Table For Travelling Classics’ Fans

Classic vehicle owners favour the closer European shores of the UK and France when travelling in their pride and joy.

According to a recent survey by specialist classic car and motorcycle insurance broker Footman James, when asked where they would travel in their classic if money was no object, 12 per cent of classic vehicle owners would prefer to travel in France or the UK.  Italy was also named as an ideal destination.

Europe generally was noted as the most desirable place to travel  with just ten per cent of respondents expressing a desire to travel across the pond to the USA.

Australia came in ‘down under’, with only four per cent of the votes, and featured near the bottom end of the table.

The survey, of over 3,500 classic vehicle owners, was conducted last November and included visitors to the Footman James Classic Motor Show.

Andy Fairchild, Footman James’ managing director, said: “The survey results are fascinating.  Clearly classics’ owners are favouring Europe, above other destinations, because of its green and pleasant lands, weather dependant of course!”
