Roger Moore’s Original Saint Car Lives

Cars from the screen certainly took centre stage at this year’s Footman James Classic Motor Show (16-18 November) with the original Volvo P1800, star of the hit 60’s series The Saint, being unveiled to the public.

The lead feature on the Volvo Enthusiasts’ Club stand, Roger Moore’s trusty partner in The Saint, the Volvo P1800, was unveiled after a mammoth restoration.  Purchased back in 1997, the car commenced its restoration in 2007 and now, some five years later, thanks to sponsorship from specialist insurance broker and Classic Motor Show title sponsor Footman James, it was unveiled at the show by Malcolm Christopher, assistant producer of the 1960’s thriller series.

Owned and lovingly restored by Volvo Enthusiasts’ Club founder Kevin Price, the car will now make a number of appearances at shows and events throughout 2013, in aid of a number of charities and culminating in a proposed tour of the studios and different locations where The Saint was filmed.

Andy Fairchild, managing director of Footman James, said: “In addition to sponsoring the Classic Motor Show for the past 18 years, this being our third year as title sponsor, we are also delighted to support our customers and key club partners.  Supporting restorations, such as the Volvo P1800 enables enthusiasts to breathe new life into the classics of yesteryear, ensuring they take centre stage once more and thus securing the future of the industry for all.”
