Ask An Expert: Slipping Windows

In this next instalment of Ask An Expert Paul Wager, Editor of Classic Car Mart and Classic Car Buyer, answers David Whitaker's question:

The driver's door window on my Rover P5B Coupe is slipping and will seldom raise or lower properly. Can you help?

"It sounds as if the glass panel has become detached from its retaining channel on the lifting mechanism, or the teeth on the lifting gear have stripped. Your only choice is to strip off the door cards and take a look inside, but a good, used regulator is less than £30."

Many of us well know that classics have their own individual quirks and sometimes the best way to diagnose an issue is to just take her apart and have a good look!

If you'd prefer to enlist a professional though, you can find a local classic specialist using our search engine Find A Garage. Simply input your postcode and radius and miles to find classic dealers, restorers, repairers and more in your area.
