Relive the original Dakar: The Dakar Enduro rally

A new rally for classic vehicles that pays homage to the Dakar has been set up. Starting in March 2022, there are still spaces available to enter.

The Dakar Enduro Rally, a brand-new rally that has been set up for classic cars and bikes, will roughly follow the route of the Dakar before it moved to South America.

Run by Bespoke Rallies, the new event will start at Brooklands before journeying through France, Spain, Morocco, Western Sahara, Mauritania and finishing in Senegal three weeks later. The route covers over 4000 miles across a diverse terrain from A-road to sand dune and everything in-between, with navigation done by roadbook just like the original Dakar. You don’t need to be a seasoned rally driver to take part though, with the rally taking a more manageable pace and aimed at anyone with a sense of adventure.

Any classic vehicle is welcome to enter, whether you have a Dakar or adventure bike or want to take part in your classic car.

Harry Metcalfe, a familiar face in the classics community due to his founding of Evo magazine and regular uploads to his popular YouTube channel, ‘Harry’s Garage’, will be taking part in next years event and has even hosted a meet up for a briefing and a bit of practice on his farm.

The rally is scheduled to start in March next year and places are still available, priced from £5850. For more information go to www.bespokerallies.com
