The Christmas-New Year period can be chock full of visits, obligations, and mince pies, but there’s usually some downtime in anyone’s calendar which, after the rushing about in the pre-Christmas build-up, can make even a couple of hours’ grace seem remarkably quiet.
So why not use this time to take your classic out, blow away the cobwebs, and – should the weather be friendly to all of us – see like-minded drivers.
There are events up and down the country where classic and more modern machines will gather to meet, but here are a selection of those that could pique your interest, or at least get the mind whirring. And if not, perhaps arrange a smaller meeting with a group of friends!
There are events going on before Christmas at all three of the Caffeine & Machine sites – near Stratford-Upon-Avon, Bedford, and Petersfield – but there is also a Winter Warmers meeting planned at each on Friday 27th December, from 5pm.
The food and drink available is excellent, as is the variety of machinery parked up and on display; just remember to book a ticket to avoid disappointment if you’re thinking far ahead enough in advance.

As you might expect from a location as established and well known as Ace Café, there are a number of events running in that ‘Crimbo Limbo’ time, particularly for those interested mostly in motorbikes.
There are bike nights on two consecutive evenings – the 26th and 27th December – with the former focused on Harley-Davidson and Indian models. The 28th December sees an All American Cruise-In over the afternoon and into the evening.
Those looking for a driving-based escape as soon after Christmas as possible can head to the Lakeland Motor Museum in the Lake District for their Classic Drive & Ride-in Day.
Not only will you be taking along your prized car or bike – though it’s not necessary to bring a classic, all models are welcome – but you’ll also be able to take a look around the museum itself; one of the best motoring museums in the UK. Plus, there’s a prize for the most impressive classic on display.

Based near Leeds, our Classic Capital – The Motorist – has a variety of events going on through the Christmas-New Year time, with the free-to-attend Coffee & Cars regular meet taking place on Sunday 29th December.
As usual, there will be food and drink facilities on hand to refresh you noble car (and bike) crusaders, with all welcome, no matter vehicle the vehicle age or ‘status’.
There are of course many other events taking place, but we’ve tried to highlight some of the most popular locations, as well as dotting them around the country a little. If you’ve got any planned trips or an event you’ve helped organise, let us know in the comments below.
