Healey Day feature content

With just over a month to go of the British summer, there’s still plenty for classic enthusiasts to tuck into.

September 4th sees the Healey Day at Warwickshire County Record Office where enthusiasts are invited to find out about the Warwick Healey Motor Company Archive.

The anticipated open day is set to be a great event with visitors able to look at original documents and objects such as photos, drawings, advertising and publicity material, and mechanics' pit passes for Le Mans.

Not to worry, visitors can also relish on the beautiful Healey cars that will be parked outside the record office and talk to the owners to ask those burning questions.

Behind the scenes

Visitors can time travel back to the past by watching vintage films of Austin Healeys in action and by listening to recordings of interviews.

Ever wondered how the remarkable archive has been built? Go behind the scenes and see how the material is stored and looked after to preserve the heritage of the beautiful Austin Healeys.

Volunteers wanted

Warwickshire County Record Office has launched its Warwick Healey Motor Company Archive project, and is making an appeal for help from volunteers.

At present £95 000 out of £120 000 has been raised to support the purchase, cataloguing and conservation of the material.

Volunteers are needed to assist with bringing history to life by creating 60 hours of interview material, conducting the interviews and/or transcribing and editing them. The Warwickshire County Record Office is keen to record memories of individuals with long-standing connections to the Donald Healey Motor Company or to car manufacturers such as Austin and Jensen that helped build the cars.

Former engineers, drivers, constructors, mechanics or office workers are all welcome to share their memories and be a part of history.

Warwickshire County Record Office encourages everyone to come along and hear more about the project so far and their future plans. All form of support is welcome there it be through donations, volunteering, spreading the word to friends and family and via social media.
