Due to the events of the last six months, there has never been a better time to boost morale and community spirit. That’s why here at Footman James, we have started an initiative to deliver good news to our clients of classic vehicle owners, enthusiasts, traders and restorers through our newsletter series Merry Motoring.
Merry Motoring was kickstarted in March and has been sending positive and informative motoring news stories regularly ever since.
So far, we have sent over 945,000 Merry Motoring emails and, with each covering five stories, that means over 4.5 million stories delivered to inboxes across the UK. These emails have been opened 260,000 times so far by our fantastic audience.
The most popular articles in Merry Motoring include a guide on how to research your classic vehicle’s history, some positive news about the upcoming change to E10 fuel and a series of ‘Ask an Expert’ blogs, which take the most common questions from our readers and put them to experts in the field.
Readers can get involved by submitting their stories, sharing tales of how they first got into classics and what their vehicle means to them. Some enthusiastic clients have even recorded short videos showing off their pride and joy which we have featured in the newsletter.
Merry Motoring has also been the platform that launched the ‘Clocking Up the Smiles’ competition, which gave readers a chance to win prizes every week. Prizes over the last few months have included annual subscriptions to motoring magazines, Lego models of classic cars & bikes, framed prints and tickets to events such as the London Concours and Bicester Heritage’s Sunday Scramble. To date, there have been over 1,200 entries and seventeen prize winners!
Overall, Merry Motoring has been a successful initiative that’s hopefully raised many smiles in otherwise difficult times and the whole team behind it is extremely proud to have been a part of it.
