Harry Metcalfe, of Footman James sponsored YouTube channel Harry's Garage, has won the title of Automotive Influencer of the year at the Newspress Awards 2020.
Best known as a founding member of evo magazine in 1998, Harry has since contributed to a number of titles including Octane and the Sunday Times, and has been an advisor to Jaguar Land Rover.
Harry now celebrates the most characterful cars via video on his Youtube channel and describes it as a way of sharing his passion for all things motoring with an equally as passionate audience.
Harry commented, "It came as a complete surprise to be honest as it's the car manufactures and the internal team at Newspress who nominate the shortlist for the Newspress awards and I wasn't made aware I had been shortlisted. To win when there are so many good Automotive Influencers out there, many of whom have more subscribers than Harry's Garage and publish videos on an almost daily basis, was humbling but gratefully received!"
Newspress judges felt Harry was a worthy winner of the award and were impressed with his "absolute enthusiasm, knowledge and overriding sense of joy that he conveys in his Harry’s Garage YouTube videos." They further commented, "currently he has around 340,000 subscribers and, while there are automotive influencers with bigger numbers, judges praised his gravitas and the fact his videos make great viewing for the car enthusiast, imbuing all that is good about car videos."
