The Driving Line - Footman James' quarterly automotive writing competition is coming soon!
Calling on willing wordsmiths, ambitious amateurs, specialist scribes, cunning copyists, and adroit amanuenses: Footman James is launching its new writing competition, The Driving Line, aiming to champion the unsung writers in the classic and specialist vehicle arena. The first edition of the quarterly contest opens on 1 March and submissions close on 15th March, with the winner announced shortly afterwards, on 29th March. Entries will be judged in conjunction with Harry Metcalfe, with the winning piece hosted on the Footman James website and the winning author awarded a £500 cash prize.
The first contest, in what will be a quarterly series, is based around the subject of ‘one vehicle, one journey, one tank’. From 1st March to 15th March novice and hobby classic and specialist automotive writers are invited to submit up to 1,000 words based on this theme. Footman James’ judging team wants to read stories about road trips in cars and on motorbikes that have already taken place or those that are planned for the coming, warmer months. Harry Metcalfe will head up said judging panel, as a Footman James ambassador and esteemed journalist, alongside a trusted team of judges.
Harry Metcalfe said of the contest: “It’s a chance for all types of writers to showcase their stories to a new audience, and to blog about something they’re really passionate about. These are the posts we will be reading in between driving and working on our cars and bikes, and we’re looking forward to seeing what the contestants come up with.”
Open to all, and not just Footman James clients, The Driving Line is easy to enter via the Footman James website. Just visit this page again on 1st March.
