Start to plan 2017 with our quick rundown of the events you can’t miss.
Brooklands New Year’s Day Gathering
Date: January 1st
Location: Brooklands Museum, Surrey
Start 2017 as you mean to go on; surrounded by classic cars. Head down to Brooklands Museum and spend New Year’s Day with 1000s of other classic car fans and their stunning vehicles. With live music and a winter barbeque, this is a great place to start the year.
Mini Fair 2017
Date: January 29th
Location: Bingley Hall, Staffordshire
A big event for a much-loved small car. Mini Fair 2017, hosted by British Mini Club will feature all things Mini under one roof. If the autojumble stands, the 100 Mini specialist traders and the Pride of Ownership display weren’t enough… you could even win a Mini for just £1.
MCN Motorcycle Show
Date: February 17th – 19th
Location: London ExCeL
For the motorbike fans amongst you, this will be a highlight of the year. With 4 zones (Classic, Custom, Adventure and Sports & Performance) that suit any motorbike fan’s needs and a live show pitting the UK against Australia (featuring John McGuinness and many more), you should probably buy your ticket as soon as possible.
London Classic Car Show
Date: February 23rd – 26th
Location: London ExCeL
One of the biggest celebrations of classic cars in the calendar. The Grand Avenue (a motor catwalk) goes through the entire venue, with 50 of the finest classic cars gracing the road over the 4 days. A pop-up Beaulieu Autojumble – the first of its kind – is another highlight. So whether you want to see some classics up close, or are looking to buy from one of the world’s greatest autojumbles, this is the place to go.
Donington Historic Festival
Date: April 28th – 30th
Location: Donington Park, Derby
Donington Park has a fabulous motoring history, which is celebrated each year at the Donington Historic Festival. 1000s of historic motoring fans, 100s of historic racing cars and numerous classic car club displays make their way to the venue each year for a truly historic weekend.
Goodwood Festival of Speed
Date: June 29th – July 2nd
Location: Goodwood, West Sussex
While not focussed solely on classics, the Goodwood Festival of Speed is an event any motoring fan has to see. As they put it, it’s ‘an impossibly heady mix of cars, stars and motor sport royalty come together over four superb days’. From Formula 1’s latest creations to classic sports cars and vintage bikes, expect a lot of noise and a lot of fun at Goodwood.
Chateau Impney Hill climb
Date: July 8th – 9th
Location: Chateau Impney Hotel & Exhibition Centre, Droitwich spa
Home to one of the UK’s most unique hill climb courses, the Chateau Impney Hill Climb brings together hundreds of competitors each year. Last year’s event featured thrilling motorsport, displays and demonstrations and the stunning Footman James Concours d’Elegance.
Footman James Manchester Classic Car Show
Date: September 16th – 17th
Location: Eventcity, Manchester
The very best of the UK classic car scene, from pre-war motors to future classics, all under one roof. Along with a collection of classic cars like no other, this event includes trade stands, restoration demonstrations and live rally action. What more could any classic car fan ask for?
Footman James Classic Vehicle Restoration Show
Date: November 4th – 5th
Location: Bath & West Showground, Somerset
If you’re interested in classic restoration, you best remember remember the… 4th and 5th of November. From untouched barn finds to perfect concours examples, the Footman James Classic Vehicle Restoration Show will have it. So however far through a project you are, take a break and take a trip to this great event.
