Dates: October 16th-18th, 2020
Location: Virtual Show from the Goodwood Motor Circuit
WHAT TO EXPECT
Goodwood SpeedWeek will be taking place this October as a brand new interactive show for 2020. With social distancing in place, the event aims to offer fans and viewers a chance to safely engage with the action, wherever they happen to be and with whoever they choose to share the experience with, through a variety of interactive experiences and competitions.
Fans can expect a free streaming and video-on-demand service to launch before the main event on October 16th, followed by three full days of live action broadcasts straight from the Goodwood Motor Circuit combined with pre-recorded features and interactive polls, quizzes, virtual tours and prizes to be won.
Starring a roster of some of the most popular names in the automotive scene, the event will be hosted by a star-studded cast, including Dermot O’Leary of BBC Radio 2 fame, TV presented Rory Reid, Capital FM radio host Siân Welby and former World Endurance Champion and Grand Prix winner Mark Webber.
When asked about his involvement, Dermot O’Leary commented: “I am thrilled to be part of the hosting team for the one-time only Goodwood SpeedWeek next month, I am a huge fan of Goodwood, and it’s incredible to see what the team has done in such challenging circumstances to keep the spirit of motorsport alive – it’s going to be a brilliant event and I can’t wait to get involved with Goodwood's audience, and hopefully bring the awesome racing to a few new faces."
COMPETITIONS & PRIZES
As well as the interactive competitions and prizes during the stream, the event will also be running a ‘Build your own Festival of Speed Central Feature’ competition. Viewers are encouraged to create their own Central Feature to sit at the heart of the festival, choosing any theme they can imagine and with free reign of materials. Judges will be awarding points for creativity, good stories, innovation and the use of recycled or sustainable materials.
There will also be a mini children’s design competition, bringing young enthusiasts into the fold by designing their own colourful and inspiring livery for a classic Mini. Entrants will have the chance to have their designs adorned on a Mini Cooper S that will be racing at the Revival in 2021 (a prize never before seen at Goodwood) as well as tickets for themselves and their family to be a guest at the event and watch their masterpiece in motion on the track.
