Chateau Impney Hill Climb 2018

Date: July 7-8, 2018

Time: 9:30am - 5pm

Location: Chateau Impney Hotel and Exhibition Centre, WR9 0BN

One of our favourite events of the year returns this July, the Chateau Impney Hill Climb. Over 200 competitors will be competing to write their name in the new chapter of the Chateau Impney Hill Climb’s history book by tackling one of the UK’s most unique and challenging hill climb courses.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Classic Cars & Competitors

There will be hundreds of cars at this year’s event, including a Bugatti T51, Alta 61IS and a 1938 Austin Twin Cam.

Returning this year will be the fiery Ford 23T Bucket Dragster, also known as Red Mist, which will be partaking in a live demonstration at the event.

New to this year’s event will be the iconic V18 BRM, that will be making its debut this summer. Courtesy of the National Motor Museum, they have worked on restoring this racer to the machine that you will see today.

Footman James Concours d’Elegance

For the past 3 years we have supported the Hill Climb through our sponsorship of the Concours event. This year we are celebrating the best of our British motoring industry.

Last year we saw a stunning 1934 Bugatti T57 Atlante take the crown, with the Bugatti Chiron following closely behind. The Atlante was one of only 17 in the world. This rare classic car had recently been restored by Gentry Restorations Ltd and we must say they did a spectacular job!

Currently we have announced Jaguar as our first British marque, followed by Morgan; but who will you choose to win this year?

Keep an eye out for other vehicles to be announced shortly.

World Record Attempt

Alastair Moffatt, a world record holding stuntman, will be attempting the fastest time to complete five figures of eight around two parked cars.

This will be a great video and photo opportunity! We’d love to see your images.

Ralli 22 Competitors

Five Ralli 22 cars will also be competing at the Hill Climb in the second stage of the competition as the five competitors hit the course.

The first car is a 1984 Lancia Rallye 037 Evoluzione 2 that was raced by Gianfranco Cunico, a three-time Italian champion. This car has been restored following the departure of Group B and found its way back to the UK in 1996.

The second car is a 1994 Opel Astra that has previously won the Dutch National Championship. The driver has several honours to his name, including the 2003 British Historic Championship and being announced as winner of the Lombard RAC Rally.

Up next is a Ford Focus WRC 01, which came second in the Monte Carlo Rally 2000. This year’s driver holds titles such as the 1999 British Junior Rally Champion and the 2009 BTRDA Gold Star Rally Champion.

Fourth, is a Lotus Espirit pre-production, which has been owned by national rally champion Dimi Mangrapolis. The cars current owner has won Formula B at Croft numerous times and the 1992 national champion BEDS Division One for supercars and rally cars.

The final car will be a Ford Escort RS2000 F2 Kit Car which has won its class in various rallies and in the British Rally Championship. Its current driver has won the BTRDA Silver Star National Championship, including the Historic Class in Wales Rally GB.

Who do you put your bets on?

RAF Demonstrations

Every year the RAF are invited to display some of their favourite machines over the weekend. This year, cast your eyes to the sky as the Chateau Impney Hill Climb will have both the Spitfire and the Douglas C-47 ‘Dakota’ flying above the grounds.

Family Fun

Last year we saw the Army turn up and show their support with an array of fun activities and displays located near the Vintage Fun Fair. These activities will be returning, including the static climbing wall and the Batak reaction machine.

The Vintage Fun Fair will be back for its third year, with family favourites including the oldest travelling Ferris Wheel in the UK, an original Helter-Skelter and the magical Carousel which was commissioned to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s rise to the throne.

Trade Village

2018 is bigger and better than ever for traders as the Trade Village will be expanding to include a variety of lifestyle traders along with your specialist favourites too.

Purchase memorabilia, watches, painting the lot as you rummage around the village to find that item that revs your engine.

Land Rover Experience

Returning to this year’s Hill Climb is the Land Rover Experience - Eastnor. This is a fun dynamic display of their units for you to experience hands-on. Hop a ride in one of their vehicles for free and hear about all the exciting functions the vehicles can bring.
