Once in a lifetime: Aston Martin DB5 Vantage Collection

With just over 1000 examples of the iconic Aston Martin DB5 built, to have a chance to buy a rare trio is a moment to be cherished. However, Aston Martin specialists Nicholas Mee & Co are currently selling a once in a lifetime trio of the rare iconic DB5 Vantage. Variations include a Coupé, Convertible, and a one-of-one Shooting Brake.

As one of the most iconic British cars of all time, the Aston Martin DB5 is best known as James Bond's car of choice. Making its first appearance in the '60s and a reappearance in the 007 franchise. The Aston Martin DB5 was developed from the DB4 Series V and came fitted with several styling and drivability upgrades. Upgrades included an enlarged 4-litre engine and power increase to 282hp with the Vantage specification gaining an extra 40hp and achieving a 0-60mph time of 6.5 second – even by today's standards, that is mighty fast!

Although this collection of Aston Martin DB5s is rare, the rarest variation of the trio is the DB5 Shooting Brake Vantage, built to accommodate former Aston Martin Chairman David Brown's gundog and polo equipment. This example was commissioned by dealer Cyril Williams of Wolverhampton and is the only example to have left the factory. Featuring a hand-built aluminium body by London based coach builders Harold Radford & Sons.

Swinging sixties icon, the DB5 Vantage Convertible has found favour with Ralph Lauren, Peter Sellers and Elle Macpherson. Only 123 were ever built, and only five were completed to the Vantage specification, including the one offered in this collection.

Saving the best till last and possibly the most iconic variation is the DB5 Vantage Coupé. A regular feature on the big screen while being driven by James Bond, it has become a cultural icon. For over 50 years, the DB5 Coupé has been synonymous with the 007 character and a universal symbol of the Aston Martin brand.

Founder of Nicholas Mee & Co, Nicholas Mee, said: "In the 40 or more years I have been dealing in Aston Martin cars, I have never been more excited than to offer this fabulous collection of Iconic DB5 Vantages. Each one of them extremely rare, they are all in a beautifully restored condition, and we are delighted to bring to the market this once in a lifetime opportunity for a collector to invest in this unique DB5 Vantage collection".

This unique trio of DB5 Vantages has been collected over a 12-year period and has never been offered as a collection before. Each restored to the highest standards by leading Aston Martin restoration specialists, allowing them to be enjoyed in as-new condition.

Each car has a detailed history file populated with original build details, BMIHT certificates, maintenance records, ownership documentation and restoration particulars, detailing the stories of each vehicle from their build dates to today.

Being offered by renowned dealers Nicholas Mee & Co, the trio of DB5 Vantages will be offered collectively, with a price tag of £4,000,000. The collection of three, featured for the first time in public, at the annual London Concours event held in the hallowed grounds of the Honourable Artillery Company's HQ in the City of London.
