This weekend saw over 200 competitors once again strive and compete on one of the most challenging and unique hill climb courses at the Chateau Impney Hill Climb. Located on the beautiful grounds of the Chateau Impney Hotel and Exhibition Centre, over 15,000 enthusiasts swarmed to the two-day event that showcased a superb display of motorsport.
As Footman James’ third year of sponsorship, we were delighted to see so many people show support at the event and take part in the activities that occurred throughout the weekend, including our Concours d’Elegance voting competition. Overlooking the Hill Climb our Footman James Concours d’Elegance celebrated motorsport heritage with some of the most beautiful and powerful automobiles on display. These included the Bugatti Chiron, Ferrari Enzo, Sunbeam Grand Prix 1922 TT and our own concours entries, the Ferrari Dino and Jaguar F-Type Project 7, just to name a few.
Traditionally, a Concours d’Elegance is judged by a specialist panel, however, our Footman James concours gave members of the public the power and choice to vote for their favourite vehicle by completing a voting card on the day, with the chance to win two VIP tickets to Chateau Impney Hill Climb 2018.
Sunday 9th July saw the announcement of the concours winner, where we were pleased to announce that a stunning Bugatti T57 Atalante took home first prize, with the Bugatti Chiron taking second place and the Ferrari Enzo and Ferrari Dino coming joint third.
Not only this, the public was able to watch a range of demonstration runs during the lunch break on both days. Some of the vehicles that took part in these demonstrations included the; Bugatti Chiron, Morgan Le Mans, Delage V12 Land Speed Record, Nissan R35 Nismo FIA GT1, Packard-Bentley ‘Mavis’ and a selection of bikes courtesy of the Brooklands Museum
.
On the lead up to the event, we offered one lucky winner the opportunity to experience the Bugatti Chiron in a live demonstration run, with two free tickets to the event. Tara Flavell, winner of the competition commented “It was an amazing experience, thank you so much for a fantastic weekend".
Over on our Footman James stand was the launch of our new competition that gives one enthusiast the chance to make their vehicle the star in an episode of Youtube Channel Harry’s Garage, plus a full detail on their vehicle from Meguiars.
This unique prize will also land the winner a space on our display at the most celebrated classic car event of the year, the NEC Classic Motor Show, where their vehicle would star alongside one of Harry’s pride and joys. If you would like the chance to win, you can still enter here.
We also had the chance to show our support in the Drivers’ Club, located at the Chateau Impney Royal Suite, the Drivers’ Club was surrounded by all the action from the Impney Paddock and competition cars. It was a great place to see all the drivers relax and enjoy the comfort of the suite before hitting the Hill Climb.
Away from the cars was the RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, where the most famous and successful RAF heavy bomber of World War Two took to the skies, the Lancaster Bomber, which made an appearance on both Saturday and Sunday.
Over in the Riverbank area of Chateau Impney’s grounds was the children’s entertainment area where families had the chance to enjoy a traditional vintage fun fair, the Army’s climbing wall, the Honesberie Shooting School and new for 2017, the rugby Worcester Warriors and Worcester Wolves Basketball Club.
Enthusiasts could also take a break from all the action and take a stroll through the trader and club stands that saw a range of offers from club memberships, paintings, car essentials and food stalls.
