The classic car events calendar for spring and summer 2018

Whether you're a vintage enthusiast or an aficionado of automotive history, the calendar for all things classic is brim-full of activities to do, see and enjoy…

April 15: London Bus Museum’s 45th annual Spring Gathering - Brooklands Museum, Surrey

Teeming with displays of historic buses and coaches the Spring Gathering is the South-East's biggest and longest running bus show. Enthusiasts will have the opportunity to enjoy the journey of some true classics, allowing them to look around 100 visiting London buses and coaches from past and present. There will also be heritage bus trips and a selection of trade stands to rummage around. For the more practical minded, the gathering will host workshop tours and preservation demonstrations that will be carried out by voluntary engineers. 

April 21: 'Classic Virgins' Experience Day, British Motor Museum, Gaydon, Warwickshire

The Classic Virgins experience day is a day to encourage potential and future British classic car owners. The day will introduce attendees to the wonderful world of classic car ownership, providing them with a basic understanding of owning a classic car and classic car maintenance. The team at the museum will also discuss club memberships as well as rallies and other social activities.

April 21-22: Perthshire Classic Car Festival, Perth

The Rotary Club of Blairgowrie is working in partnership with Scone Palace and Kinross Council to organise a premier classic car weekend to enjoy.

Spread over two days, this spectacular event encourages all to join in with classic vehicle fun. Better yet, all proceeds from the weekend will be donated to Cancer Research UK, Alzheimer Scotland and the Rotary Foundation.

April 22: Drive It Day

Organised by the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs (FBHVC), Drive-it-Day inspires owners of classic vehicles to proudly show off their marques.

This year, our team at Footman James are celebrating Drive-It-Day with fellow partners Chateau Impney Hill Climb and Classic Motor Hub.

April 28-29: Classic Car Boot Sale, Kings Cross, London

Celebrating all things music, food, fashion and classic vehicle related. The Classic Car Boot Sale is the eye candy of London this April.

For lovers of vintage clothes and homeware to enthusiasts of classic cars and vintage vehicles; this is the place to be.

May 4-6: Donington Historic Festival, Donington Park circuit, Castle Donington, Derbyshire

Whether you are a stern classic vehicle lover or a newbie to the industry, the Donnington Historic Festival will fill you with plenty of entertainment.

After several successful years, the event still continues to attract thousands of spectators and enthusiasts, including our much loved classic car clubs.

The three day event creates a buzzing atmosphere and has been said to be one of the best spectator circuits in the UK.

As a visitor you can sit back and enjoy all the fun as iconic classic cars race around the track fighting for first place. For those that love to wander, there are many off-track activities to see and do.

May 6: Simply Ford, National Motor Museum, Beaulieu, Hampshire

Our Footman James partners are at it again as the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu marks the 50th anniversary of the Ford Escort as their Simply Ford event.

If you are a Ford owner, the National Motor Museum invites you to the museum's complex as it promises a great day out for all.

Not only this, all participants have the chance to win the People's Choice Award, selected and voted for by the public, where the winner receives the Beaulieu Simply Ford trophy. 

May 12-13: Gaydon Land Rover Show, British Motor Museum, Gaydon, Warwickshire

It's the year of the Land Rover as the iconic marque celebrates it's 70th birthday. This event will showcase a variety of Land Rovers, from 1948 to the present day.

A special parade will also take place in the arena as the youngsters hit the cat walk in the line-up of their vintage and modern mini Land Rovers.

For knowledgeable Land Rover enthusiasts, you can test your Landy know how in the Land Rover quiz as well as enjoying live music throughout the day.

May 26-27: Land Rover Legends, Bicester Heritage, Oxfordshire

A brand new Land Rover event hits Bicester Heritage in May as the year continues to celebrate Land Rover's 70th anniversary.

If you are a Land Rover collector, preservationist, restorer or enthusiast, come along to the event to pay homage to this incredible marque.

May 26-27: La Vie en Bleu/La Vita Rossa, Prescott Hillclimb, Gotherington, near Cheltenham, Gloucestershire

We saw it at Prescott last year and at the Chateau Impney Hill Climb; this year the beautiful Bugatti Chiron returns.

Encorporating La Vita Rossa, the event celebrates all things Italian, including the cars and music. For those of you visiting on the Saturday, why not sit and spectate the Ferrari Hillclimb Championship?

May 28: Yorkshire Classic Vehicle Show, Ripley Castle, Yorkshire

Over the Sping Bank Holiday, the 700 year old Ripley Castle will be home to a variety of classic car displays.

On the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, this beautiful setting provides the perfect family day out for a classic vehicle show.

Spanning across the grounds, there will be a range of classic vehicles including; classic cars, classic bikes, vans, trucks and ex-military machines. 

June 2-3: Argyll Festival of Performance, Inveraray Castle, Argyll

A record-breaking Fiat S76, nicknamed The Beast of Turin, will be the star of the show, amid an impressive line-up of iconic performance machines from the motoring past.

The show will also see significant vehicles that have appeared in F1 and Le Mans! The festival will also include demonstration runs of star cars, auctions for prestigious vehicles, car clubs, food and drink.

Confirmed dealers include: McLaren, Bentley, Lamborghini, Ferrari and Porsche, just to name a few.

June 23-24: Classic & Sports Car Show in association with Flywheel

We can't wait for the new C&SC in association with Flywheel event, as the two day classic vehicle heaven comes to Bicester Heritage.

From motoring to auctions, aircrafts to dealers, clubs to specialists, the show has it all.

Over the two days you will see decades of motoring history, including classic car displays and tyre squeaking action as competition cars and classic bikes take to the track.

July 7-8: Chateau Impney Hill Climb, Droitwich Spa

This summer you can't forget to attend the annual annual celebration of historic motorsport at Chateau Impney Hill Climb.

Spectators will get to witness exhilarating motorsport and jaw-dropping air displays, including the Lancaster Bomber..

July 27-29: CarFest North & South

In two locations, CarFest brings together families and classic vehicle enthusiasts.

Founded by radio presenter Chris Evans, there is entertainment for all the family.

Throughout the three days, the event is jam packed with as much four wheeled action as you can squeeze into a weekend, including car-topia, car club displays, a vintage village and the Sporting Bear Dream Rides.
