Hampton Court hosts dazzling display of DB-badged Aston Martins
20 July, 2018
There’s a real treat in store at this year’s Concours of Elegance at Hampton Court Palace, where over 100 DB-badged Aston Martins will be on proud display.
A very special anniversary is being marked at this year’s Concours of Elegance at Hampton Court: 70 years of DB-badged Aston Martins.
Every DB model, from the DB1 to today’s DB11, will be on display in the spectacular grounds of Hampton Court Palace from 31 August until 2 September – and what a truly British setting it’ll be for this homage to one of our most prestigious marques.
Rare 1937 Luxury Tourer
Among the many highlights of the event will be a rare 1937 Aston Martin 15/98 Long Chassis Tourer by Bertelli. Designed as a touring car, the luxury four-seater has been painstakingly restored by specialist Ecurie Bertelli – a sure sign that it’s going to be in glittering form.
A DB5 Convertible has also been confirmed for the event – it is one of only 83 right-hand drive examples ever produced.
An Aston Martin fit for a prince
We’re also expecting to see the famous ‘Royal Aston Martin’ that was built in 1950 and bought by Prince Bertil of Sweden. One of the first six Aston Martin DB2 DHCs, it took part in the parade lap at the 1951 Le Mans 24 Hours.
And if all that isn’t enough, visitors at the Hampton Court Palace event will also be able to admire a very special 1967 Aston Martin DBSC by Touring. It’s the only road-going version still in existence and boasts a beautiful tan pigskin interior.
Iconic British brand
Concours of Elegance Director Andrew Evans says: “Aston Martin remains one of the most iconic British brands, and its cars exude prestige, power and elegance to automotive aficionados from across the globe.
“With support from Aston Martin, Aston Martin specialists and the excellent Aston Martin Owners’ Club we feel as though we’ve created a very fitting tribute to a British legend at Concours of Elegance.”
The Concours of Elegance, which began at Windsor Castle in 2012, has quickly become an unmissable date in the annual calendar for classic car enthusiasts.
This year’s event will once again bring together a selection of 60 of the rarest cars from around the world, plus displays of hundreds of other fine vehicles, including entrants to The Club Trophy. You can buy tickets for this prestigious event on the Concours of Elegance website.
