ABOUT THE ROUND BRITAIN COASTAL DRIVE
The E-type Club and the International Jaguar XK Club helped set up the Round Britain Coastal Drive in 2016. In the first year, the tour, which involved 200 E-types, raised an amazing £62,000. This year, the aim is to go above and beyond to reach the target of £70,000, all in aid of prostate cancer.
Jaguar E-type owners were called to the stage to join an epic adventure by completing a circumferential coastal route of mainland Britain. The E-types will be covering approximately 3,600 miles (5,793 km) overall, with 180-mile stages driven sequentially by groups in the form of a relay.
CBR Classic Restorations, Andy Waters, joined event sponsors SNG Barratt for the beginning of the tour, which started on the 17th September 2018 and is set to finish on 5th October 2018. The tour had a wet and windy start when the E-types set off from Pendine Sands in Tenby to Workington in Cumbria. Today, the E-types will continue their mission as they travel from Workington to Ayr on the West Coast of Scotland.

Philip Porter, founder of the E-type Club; and International XK Club, commented on the last E-type drive in 2016; ‘This event was a wonderful way to see England, Wales and Scotland… to sample places one has heard of but never been to, and discover so many quaint villages and stylish towns. Above all, there was a wonderful camaraderie as we all had a common cause and could use the fabulous E-type Jaguars’.
Porter completed his first drive shortly after recovering from prostate cancer himself, and since then the event has become a perfect way to help raise awareness and funds for Prostate Cancer UK. He continued to comment, ‘People have been amazingly generous. And we have had a lot of fun. Everyone wins.’
CBR Classic Restorations will be updating their website with pictures from the tour over the next couple of weeks, so be sure to keep on track with all the events from their journey! For more information, videos and images, you can also check out the Round Britain Coastal Drive’s Facebook page.
JOIN THE FIGHT TO BEAT CANCER
Prostate Cancer UK state that deaths from prostate cancer are set to soar over the next decade. In 2016, one man every hour died from prostate cancer in the UK, that’s 10,900 men in the year. Based on current trends, this number looks to rise to over 14,500 men a year by 2026.
Prostate Cancer UK therefore has one ambition, to stop men dying from the disease. Their aim is to tame prostate cancer within ten years; but they need your help to do this.
To date, the 2018 Round Britain Coastal Drive has currently raised £2,956.68 for Prostate Cancer UK, but are still far from reaching their £70,000 target. To help them achieve their goal, you can show your support by donating to the Round Britain Coastal Drive Just Giving page.
