The David Manners Group, based in Oldbury in the West Midlands, is a family run business comprising of four of the most established market leaders in the car parts industry.
It all started over 30 years ago when founder, David Manners, couldn’t find a new exhaust for his Daimler Dart SP250. Friends of David were also experiencing difficulties obtaining Dart parts, and he soon realised that this could be the basis of a successful business. After a lot of searching, he ended up getting an exhaust made especially. David went on to have 100 more made and sold them all within a month! This was all the proof he needed to switch from his dry-cleaning business to manufacturing and selling car parts.
Although DMG began specialising in Daimler spares, today the company sells parts for many modern and classic cars, including Jaguar and Daimler, Classic Mini, MG, Triumph, Morris Minor and Mazda MX-5 cars, from all under one roof. Furthermore, the David Manners Group backs British business, with over 90% of its stock sourced in Great Britain.
In 2005, DMG was awarded the status of European Parts Distributor, making the company the first official European Parts only distributor for Jaguar Cars selling Jaguar Parts.
Whilst remembering its history, DMG is looking towards the future, this year celebrating its 40th year in business, continuing with the same family values that the company was built on. Whilst David still plays an active role in the company as Chairman, his daughter Kate Manners has been the Managing Director of DMG since 2011.
